Is it the fault of covid or spending most of the time in comfortable loose-fitting home clothes (tracksuits)? Or maybe was it time to change the trend? Anyway, I like it! What about you?
The year has turned around at the speed of light, so I decided to write the fashion forecast for spring and summer 2021.
2020 was probably the year that could not end fast enough. A year when we were admiring our beautiful clothes in the closet. I admit I spent most of my time in comfortable tracksuits and baggy clothes. Certainly, this was a year, that will be remembered in our memory forever.
That is why we were very happy to enter into the new year, which is still flowing in a very similar way. But changes are definitely noticeable and the hope that we will be able to parade around carefree again in our favorite fashion pieces is guaranteed here.
After a year that has shaken the world in all directions, big changes are inevitable. As fashion often reflects the everyday experience of society, the first presentations of the spring/summer 2021 collection were virtual and private.
For the designers, as the pandemic brought a pause and time for reflection, some certainly found themselves in this crisis, while others found their bliss in 2020 and took the story to their own. With regards to clothing, the old rules you knew no longer apply.
New trends have emerged that demand the right to be part of the new world order.
So, if you are interested in what colors we will wear and what cuts will prevail, I kindly invite you to continue this blog.
COLORS
The warm season will be marked by strong colors that raise our energy and draw a smile on our faces. Colors such as yellow, orange, and red will certainly be the leaders in 2021.
For those more gentle souls who like more subtle tones, you will be able to choose from beautiful pastel colors. Lavender, pastel pink, and blue will caress our eyes.
TROUSERS WITH WIDE PANTS
Do you also agree that the carrot pants went out at the right time?
Well, I’ll still keep mine in the closet, but after all these years, I’m just starting to wonder when I’ll be amazed by jeans again, which I can easily take off in the evening and not “pull” out of myself if I can joke a bit. Well, here we are!
Retro silhouettes are back and pants with wide leggings or ‘on the bell’ are among them, as evidenced by fashion enthusiasts. But we also saw them on the catwalks for spring and summer 2021, where they presented bell-bottom jeans and classic pants that spread outwards below.
Speaking of pants, another interesting thing, this year, jeans for the first time came to the catwalk of renowned fashion designers. So far, jeans have never been introduced as part of high fashion.
BALLOON SLEEVES
When we started observing the trend of inflated sleeves in the spring of 2018, it seemed like it was the latest must-have of the season. Since then, it has been refurbished in so many iterations and has kept coming back season after season. Becoming more than just a fleeting trend.
From dresses, T-shirts, sweaters, jackets, coats and more, and more. This year, they added even more volume to this trend and turned inflated sleeves into balloon ones.
STREET STYLE 90s
Top fashion designers such as Louis Vuitton or Chanel have highlighted the revenge of the 90s style on the spring-summer 2021 collection. With neon underground influences mixed with hip-hop elements and denim clothing. There is a lot of clothing printed with logos and “graffiti”.
Definitely a trend for anyone who is more courageous and likes to stand out. As well as pantsuits, a fashion trend that all generations probably wore in their youth. Do you still remember?
LOW WAIST
Amazing, but true! The low belt is back! Even though I believe many of us will need a lot of time to re-adopt this trend. Definitely, this is also one of the trends that do not suit every body figure. So I always reach for a higher waist, as only this optically lengthens my legs. And you? Do you prefer a high or low waist?
LEATHER
The fashion forecast for spring and summer 2021 heralds a whirlwind of leather that interprets everyday classics into decadent pieces worth investing in. From luxurious midi dresses with puffed sleeves to A-line maxi skirts and flexible skirts, and gowns.
After earthy shades of sand, persimmon, and chocolate in 2020, leather is again in. It is found in the most classic black color and differs from the lighter cotton and colorful shades with which we will otherwise fill our new seasonal wardrobes.
Thanks to the multitude of pieces already on offer, it’s never been easier to get started. Finding useful clothes like shirts, midi dresses, and loose-fitting jackets, and combine them with simple t-shirts and long-sleeved sweaters to spice up your everyday style.
FOLLOW FASHION TRENDS OR NOT?
So, these were some fashion guidelines for 2021.
Does that mean we now have to completely redesign our wardrobe and change all our clothes? Of course not. Fashion trends are here to give us inspiration in styling our clothes. And of course, not every fashion trend suits everyone.
That is why it is important to find your personal style, which you only upgrade over the years with the help of fashion trends. It is extremely important that we feel comfortable and confident in our clothes. And it means nothing if the clothes you wear are in the latest fashion if you don’t feel good in them.
REMEMBER: You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.
